The Human Rights Unit, in cooperation with the Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine and under the patronage of the Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al-Kaabi, organized a seminar entitled “The Role of the Veterinarian in Reducing Poverty Rates through Livestock Support” as part of the activities commemorating the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
The seminar highlighted the pivotal role of the veterinarian in developing livestock, considering it a fundamental pillar of food security and a key factor in reducing poverty rates, especially in communities that rely on animal production as a primary source of income.

• Veterinarian Aya Abbas Fadel
The seminar addressed scientific mechanisms for improving animal health, increasing productivity, and ensuring product quality, which in turn leads to increased income for livestock breeders and the creation of job opportunities in the animal sector.
The workshop also emphasized the crucial role of veterinarians in promoting health awareness, developing vaccination and disease control programs, supporting small and medium-sized livestock enterprises, and fostering innovation in the animal and food industries, recognizing them as essential partners in achieving sustainable development and combating poverty.
In conclusion, participants recommended expanding training programs for livestock breeders and strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and government agencies to support the livestock sector and achieve sustainable economic development.
