The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala organized a training course on the technique of nucleic acid amplification (PCR) in the research laboratory of the College of Veterinary Medicine with the participation of a group of graduate students in which Prof. Dr. Haider Ali Muhammad lectured.
The course aimed to enhance the scientific knowledge and practical skills of graduate students in the use of this biotechnology, develop the capabilities of young researchers and enhance their scientific contributions in the veterinary field.
The course focused on the application of PCR technology to detect the gene responsible for encoding mitochondria (energy houses) in parasites of water bags isolated from sheep, and experiments were carried out on samples collected from slaughterhouses in the city of Karbala, which provided an opportunity for students to gain direct practical experience in conducting and analyzing PCR experiments.
The course included theoretical lectures and intensive practical applications, where the student showed remarkable skills in carrying out experiments and analyzing the results. The trials have revealed multiple cases, highlighting the importance of this research in improving animal health and strengthening efforts to combat parasitic diseases.
