The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Kerbala University in collaboration with the veterinary hospital in the province has launched an integrated field veterinary plan aimed at enhancing food safety and public health measures during the Arbaeen visit of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
The plan, which was coordinated with the Husseiniyah Processions Authority, includes the deployment of joint monitoring teams to examine livestock and animal products used in the preparation of food and ensure their safety and freedom from diseases, as well as monitoring the slaughter, preservation and distribution processes within the processions spread at the entrances to Karbala.
In this context, voluntary teams of students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine under the supervision of their professors began to perform their tasks
The Dean of the College Assistant Professor Dr Mohammed Asad Al-Kaabi, said that this initiative comes within the framework of the college’s community role and embodies the integration of academic and field efforts in serving visitors, pointing out that the participation of college professors and students in this plan enhances practical training and consolidates the culture of volunteer work among students.
Al-Kaabi pointed out that the cooperation with the veterinary hospital reflects an effective model of partnership between the academic and service sectors in supporting the million events and providing a safe health environment.
The Arbaeen pilgrimage is one of the largest religious events in the world and requires exceptional efforts and high coordination to ensure the safety of millions of visitors from inside and outside Iraq.
