The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Kerbala organized a workshop on the effects of chemical weapons, coinciding with the National Day of Mass Graves

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Kerbala, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Saleh Al-Kaabi, the college’s Human Rights Unit organized a workshop to commemorate the National Day of Mass Graves, honoring the thousands of martyrs who fell victim to the crimes of the former regime.

The workshop, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Asawer Asaad Mohammed and Ms. Marwa Yousef Mohammed Hadi, addressed the chemical aspects of the weapons used by the former regime against the Iraqi people, particularly during the Anfal campaigns and the Halabja massacre, and the catastrophic effects these weapons had on humans, animals, plants, and the environment.

The lectures highlighted the long-term health and environmental impacts of these internationally prohibited weapons and the ongoing damage they have caused, the effects of which have lasted for many years. The workshop emphasized the importance of documenting these crimes and raising awareness about the dangers of chemical weapons and their repercussions for future generations.

This workshop is part of the awareness activities implemented by the college to consolidate the principles of human rights and to commemorate the great sacrifices made by the people of Iraq, in order to contribute to promoting a culture of awareness, justice and respect for human dignity.
