Veterinary medicine students acquire practical skills in blood sampling and poultry dissection

As part of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty’s focus at the University of Kerbala to develop the practical side and enhance the applied skills of its students, a practical lesson was organised for fourth-year students presented by Professor Dr. Latif Ibrahim Kazim, in which he discussed the mechanism of blood collection from chickens and identified the locations of the main veins and arteries, as well as dissecting the internal organs of poultry and studying their vital functions.

The lesson included a detailed explanation of the steps involved in handling birds before slaughter, methods for accurately identifying anatomical locations, and an explanation of the scientific aspects related to the internal anatomy of vital organs. Students actively participated in the practical application, which contributed to enhancing their understanding of the material and developing their field skills.

The lesson was conducted under the direct supervision and guidance of the Dean of the College Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al-Kaabi, who emphasised the importance of these practical lessons in refining the scientific expertise of students and linking theory with practice in line with the College’s objectives of preparing scientifically and practically qualified veterinary cadres.
