The College of Veterinary Medicine Organizes an Educational Lecture on Digital Security and Protecting Girls from Cyber ​​Extortion

        Under the patronage and supervision of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Kerbala Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Asaad Al-Kaabi the Gender Justice Unit at the college organized an educational lecture entitled “Digital Security and Gender Justice: Protecting Girls from Cyber ​​Extortion.” The lecture was held on Sunday morning November 23, 2025, in the discussion hall.

This lecture aimed to raise students’ awareness of personal protection mechanisms while using digital platforms, introduce them to methods of cyber extortion targeting girls and young men, and explain how to deal with cyber threats correctly and safely.

The lecture was presented by media trainer Muhammad Al-Abadi who reviewed the most prevalent digital risks today and explained the methods used by extortionists to hack accounts or lure victims. He emphasized the importance of students adhering to digital security measures such as password protection two-factor authentication, and not sharing personal data or photos with untrusted sources.

Al-Abadi also addressed the role of families and educational institutions in mitigating these phenomena, in addition to clarifying the legal avenues available for reporting cases of online extortion within Karbala Governorate and Iraq in general.

The lecture witnessed significant interaction from the students, who posed numerous questions regarding how to deal with extortion attempts and the official bodies authorized to provide support. This gave the lecture an important practical dimension, promoting a safe digital culture within the university community.
