The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Kerbala discussed a Master’s thesis submitted by researcher Huda Jassim Mohammed in the Department of Anatomy and Histology, entitled:
Anatomy, Histology, and Histochemical Study of the Kidney and the Adrenal Gland in the Eagle-Owl (Bubo ascalaphus)
The study aimed to identify the anatomical, histological, and histochemical structure of both the kidney and the adrenal gland in the eagle-owl through macroscopic and microscopic examinations. It also sought to demonstrate the extent to which these organs are adapted to the bird’s lifestyle, feeding habits, and environmental behavior, and the importance of these adaptations in maintaining the body’s physiological balance.
Furthermore, the study aimed to enrich scientific knowledge related to the anatomical, histological, and histochemical structure of the kidney and adrenal gland in birds of prey, and to provide a solid scientific database that will contribute to supporting future research in this field.
The examining committee consisted of Professor Dr. Mona Hussein Hassan as chair, Professor Dr. Jaafar Ghazi Abbas from Al-Qasim Green University as a member, Professor Dr. Ashwaq Kadhim Obaid from the College of Science at the University of Karbala as a member, and Assistant Professor Dr. Walaa Fadhil Obaid as a member and supervisor.
The discussion included a scientific dialogue that addressed the research methodology and the researcher’s findings, which contributed to clarifying the structural and functional characteristics of the kidney and adrenal gland in the eagle owl, thus enhancing the scientific understanding of physiological adaptations in birds of prey.
At the conclusion of the discussion, the examining committee decided to accept the thesis and award the researcher, Huda Jassim Mohammed, a Master’s degree in Veterinary Anatomy and Histology with a grade of “Excellent,” in recognition of her scientific efforts and the valuable research findings contained in the study. For his part, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Asaad Saleh Al-Kaabi, praised the scientific level of the thesis, stressing that the college’s deanship pays great attention to supporting quality scientific research and encouraging studies that contribute to enriching scientific knowledge and keep pace with modern research developments, in order to enhance the college’s scientific and academic standing.
