The Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology Department at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Kerbala, discussed the Master’s thesis submitted by researcher Asawer Abdullah, entitled: “Comparative Physiological Evaluation of the Improvement Effects of Green Coffee Extract and Berberine in Male Rats with Induced Diabetes,” in the presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Saleh Al-Kaabi.
The study aimed to evaluate the effect of green coffee extract and berberine on improving physiological and metabolic indicators associated with diabetes. This was achieved by examining blood glucose levels, liver function, blood lipids, and oxidative stress markers, in addition to histological examinations of the liver and pancreas.
The discussion committee consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Fadhil as chair, Professor Dr. Arshad Nouri Ghani as a member, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Abdul Mahdi as a member, Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Ibrahim Saleh as a member and supervisor, and Professor Dr. Rana Fadhil Moussa as a member and supervisor.
This study is part of the college’s efforts to support physiological and health research, enhance the quality of postgraduate studies, and raise the level of scientific research.
